[If he felt any differently than what he does now, Kon's little speech might have helped pull him out of his funk, reminded him that there were people that cared about him.
But now? It's far too late, and Ichigo only listens in silence, the bitterness in his body rising.]
Are you done?
[There's so much anger, bitterness, and pain contained in that one sentence - but then he reigns it in, clinging to the last fragment of humanity left to him in order to not just shut the phone off and go away to dwell on everything that's happened.]
I'm not coming home. And if you try to take me back, I'll kill you.
[...It doesn't sound like an idle threat, either. He's definitely not joking.]
...Just stop him. I don't care what you have to do, but stop him before he fucks anyone else over.
[That. Is definitely more than a little worrisome. And if Kon weren't currently hunting Adachi down he would actually be like 'no let's stop and talk about this.'
But Ichigo is right, he has to do something about Adachi first. Or at least try.]
I'm taking care of him now, but don't think this is over. Even if you don't want to come back, we're talking about this after Adachi is locked away.
[The only reason he is not wetting his pants right now is that this is over the phone instead of in real life, and he is a thousand percent done with this week.]
[It's all he really has to say. If Kon were human, he'd be more dismissive...but for now, he just leaves it at that.
There's a moment of silence...and then a loud crunching comes over the phone, just before the call disconnects.
In the church, Ichigo lets the fragments of the broken phone fall out of his hand onto the groun, and finally lets go of the tiny bit of humanity he was still holding.
A dark rush goes through him, but it isn't enough to mask the pain, rage, and bitterness still boiling over in his soul. Quietly, he goes to sit on the altar, unknowingly mirroring how he'd encountered Dio on that night all those months ago.
It's been a long time coming, but he has finally hit the bottom...and then broken through to the other side.
And the worst part of it all is that he likes it.]
